- The hospital also serves as a training site for medical residents and distributed medical education in general and secondary health care, including emergency medicine and palliative care rotations.
- Handles community health functions: events like Men’s Health Day (walk-in prostates / screenings), non-invasive treatments (e.g. pilot site for REZUM for benign prostatic hyperplasia), projects to improve ambulatory care access.

- Referrals for specialist care or first appointments may require use of the MUHC Referral Portal.
- Hospital cards will be discontinued effective August 28, 2025; ensure you have valid Québec health insurance (RAMQ) card.
- Modernization project underway: upgrades to emergency department, intermediate care, private patient rooms with own bathrooms, improved lab specimen transport systems.
