History
Founded in 1939 as "Les Marchands en Quincaillerie," RONA has grown through strategic acquisitions and expansions. In 2016, RONA was acquired by Lowe's Companies, Inc. for $3.2 billion CAD. Later, in November 2022, Lowe's announced the sale of its Canadian retail business, including RONA, to Sycamore Partners, a private equity firm specializing in retail and consumer investments. The transaction was completed in February 2023, and RONA now operates as a subsidiary of Sycamore Partners.
