GenuTax Standard is a Windows-based tax preparation software from GenuSource Consulting Inc., offered at no charge for personal use in Canada. It is certified by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The software allows users to prepare returns for up to 20 individuals per year, supports a wide range of slips and forms (employment, investment, rental property) and includes features such as Auto-Fill My Return and Notice of Assessment via Tax Software for eligible years.

The desktop “interview” interface walks users through their tax situation step by step, helping identify deductions and credits. Because it is a downloadable application rather than purely web-based, data is processed locally, which some users prefer for privacy reasons. One of its major appeals is that it remains fully free, with optional donations to support development.
